TESTIMONIALS

We moved away from Bulverde three years ago but we could not leave Country Hills Vet Clinic. Dr. Patin and his staff are smart and compassionate. They really care and they have great clinical instinct. When we first moved to Bulverde from Wichita Falls, we needed a vet. Our neighbors recommended Dr. Patin. We walked in to the clinic just wanting shots and monthly medicine for our two golden retrievers. Dr Patin took one look at our two-year-old Beau who was a little “chunky”. He asked a couple of questions about how much we feed him. I thought, “Oh no we’re going to get a lecture on how we were feeding him too much.” Not a chance. Dr. Patin said in that quiet Texas accent, “Ma’am, I think your dog has a thyroid problem.” An hour later, the lab test confirmed what Dr. Patin’s clinical instinct already knew.

A year later Beau needed his Cranial Cruciate Ligament (that’s ACL in human terms) repaired. Dr Patin discussed the options with his colleagues at Texas A&M and presented us with a plan. We were totally confident in his abilities. The surgery was a complete success.

During his early years, Beau was a “frequent flyer” at Country Hills for his thyroid, allergies, and ear infections. Dr. Patin always gave us great information along with cost effective common sense treatment options. The staff always provided lots of TLC for Beau during his frequent visits.

Our other golden retriever Bear was also Dr Patin’s patient. When Bear was 13 and at Country Hills for a check up, Dr. Patin thought Bear needed a little more thorough exam. So, he did a comprehensive work up including labs. Once again, that clinical instinct was right on target. Bear had lung and spleen cancer. We didn’t want to put Bear through chemotherapy or radiation treatment. But Dr Patin didn’t give up on trying to make Bear’s life better. He put Bear on some medication that vastly improved his condition. We couldn’t even tell he had cancer. With the help and support of Dr Patin and the Country Hills staff Bear had another happy and healthy 15 months of life. When it came time to let him go, they took care of him and us too with the greatest of compassion as we said good-bye to Bear. We knew then we would never leave Country Hills. Dr Patin was also there for us when Beau also passed away from a very aggressive cancer at the age of eleven. However, until then he was doing so well we missed the staff because we didn’t get to the clinic very often.

Well now we have a happy healthy three-year-old golden named Bucky and a yellow lab puppy named Diesel. We are sure glad to have Dr Patin and his staff for their care. Thanks Country Hills!

After receiving an opinion from a seasoned cattleman, a ranch foreman, and a vet, I was on my way to have Molly, the beautiful traveling show cow for Promised Land Dairy, put down since all three assessed a lump on her nose as probable cancer. Somehow as I turned onto 281 heading south, I saw the Country Hills Vet Clinic sign and my heart would not allow me to pass by getting one more opinion. But will a vet accept a cow without an appointment and attempt to save her on the spot? Not a chance!

But then I met Dr. Patin. “Bring her to the back and lets take a look” he said. Within 30 minutes of examination and conversation Dr. Patin found the lump had been caused by a dry socket from removal of a broken tooth. For several years the cow had packed feed and grain in the socket making a horrible infection that broke through into the nasal cavity and began being drawn up the passage. Knowing this cow was more than a pet, he quoted a price for surgery and had a plan. The cow had a chance and by the next day had been cut open and an aggressive regimen in play for cleaning the infection, removing horrible deteriorating feed from the nose, and beginning the healing from the inside out.

Progress was made, but much much slower than expected due to the severity of the infection. The socket would not close so a plug was attempted, and then another after she licked out the first. Days turned into weeks and Molly was a full time resident there until after a month it was time to go home. As a man of his word, the quoted price was the billed price in spite of taking extraordinary efforts and time to bring her around. And to make sure she continued her progress, ranch visits continued for several weeks afterward.

Dr. Patin cared for our cow as much as we did and he was relentless in his efforts to save her and get her back to pasture. And today, that is where she is thanks to him. I could not recommend his services any more highly than as coming from a man of character, determination, and most of all care. Molly loves you and so do we Dr. Patin and your outstanding staff.

Our family, which consists of four households and fourteen dogs at the moment, uses only one veterinarian, Dr. Kenny Patin. That association began when my son Chris was looking for a veterinarian that really knew about English Bulldogs. Dr. Patin’s reputation and extensive knowledge of Bulldogs lead Chris and his Sassy Girl to Country Hill Veterinary Clinic. From that time on Kenny became the family vet. We quickly found that the short drive from our homes in San Antonio was time well spent for the care our babies would be getting and the prices were better than what we had been paying in San Antonio. Kenny has seen us through litters of Bulldogs, Boxers, and Chihuahuas. We nearly lost one of my parents little guys on the operating table a couple of years ago. If the vet had been anyone other than Kenny, Happy, the Chihuahua, would not be alive. Kenny brought him back from the dead. He was blind and partially paralyzed for a couple of days, but Kenny took him home with him every night for a week and cared for him instead of leaving him at the clinic. I truly believe that kind of loving care is what helped keep that little guy alive. And by the end of the week Happy was doing much better. I am happy to report he is back to his old self; no one would ever know he had a brush with death.

If you are looking for a really good vet, with a lot of education mixed with a healthy dose of good old common sense and real caring for his patients and their owners then Dr. Kenny Patin should be your veterinarian.

With sincere love and respect,
Joan McCord and Family

From the first time I walked into Country Hill Veterinary Clinic, I knew I was in a caring place. Dr. Patin and his staff always show great compassion and caring to my “furry family”. His knowledge and skill is obvious and unequalled; his staff’s kindness and warmth are welcoming. It doesn’t matter whether I’m there for routine check-ups or there in adverse situations, I always know my animals are in the best of care!

Kenny, we were empty nesting! But the mutts (five of them) lined up at the gate – hurt, sick and homeless. You put them back together and healed them and even now are providing some much needed geriatric care for the oldest of them. We had privileged pedigreed pooches when our kids were growing up but now we are learning that mutts can make the best family members. They seem to know that a loving home is not a sure thing and they are feeling mighty lucky.

Ranger is a good example. Not a pretty pup, she looked like a golden hairball with big round paws. We found her after being hit by a car. Her injuries were severe and with a crushed hip and intestines wrapped around her heart and lungs she died on Kenny’s table during surgery. He breathed for her and quickly put her back together and restarted her heart.

She spent the next few weeks in Kenny’s office greeting his newest patients. As his new practice grew, Ranger grew into one of the most lovable (and beautiful) dogs that has ever ruled a household. She was named after the SVHS football team of 1997. We think she (and maybe Larry Hill) is the reason they are so successful!

Kenny, we do have a question. Is it normal for a dog to put her entire head in the water bucket with only her eyes and ears above the water line and to come out gagging and choking? Oh well, this seems to be the only complication of the surgery. Thank you for giving us back these wonderful creatures and for entitling them to the healthy, happy lives they deserve.

Grateful for every thing you do,
Joe and Jennifer McKinney

Thank you!! The kind gesture you’ve shown me has made me realize there are still people like you that exist in this world. People who actually care enough to try and help a girl like me get through a tragic time like this. Thank you for helping dispose of my deceased lamb and removing the broken rib from my other lamb! I hope you know how much I truly appreciate your kind gesture! This has meant the entire world to me! I can’t thank you enough for helping me have a second chance at a possibility of placing at the San Antonio Rodeo this year!

I truly deeply from the bottom of my heart appreciate everything you have done for me to help me get through to the light at the end of this dark and gloomy tunnel!

Sincerely,
Amanda Morganroth*

*(Amanda’s lambs were victimized at Madison High School in January 2007. Dr. Kenny Patin provides veterinary aid to all Madison FFA animals and was able to provide care to the injured animals during this tragic incident.)
